I am thinking of doing a moter swap on my 2000 2.5 RS was thinking of a WRX moter with the 2.5 tranny is there any info on a wiring harness converson so I dont have to pull a new one for the new ECU. The other thing I was thinking of is waiting until somone wreckes there STI and trying to get an STI moter and tranny to swap. Which would be easier , Cheaper. Any info would help.

 

Well "cheaper" is not a term you should become friendly with when discussing a turbo'ed RS.

A. You can buy a great turbo kit for 4000 bucks (but what about building the engine, and electronics, for serious boost?)...(and can the tranny handle the power?)

B. U.S. WRX swap...reasonable cost, but 227 H.P. stock and how much more before you have to REALISTICALLY worry about internals and the gearbox?

C. If you want more power, get an STI engine/drivetrain my friend...whether you want to wait for a U.S. STI drivetrain, or whether you go with the overseas option, the STI is THE BEST WAY TO GO...period. It is all there for you.

P.S. 2.5 turbos are the ultimate in pure neck snapping power...but unless you are willing to spend the SERIOUS amount of cash that it takes to make a turbo 2.5 long-term reliable, you will end up heartbroken...and broke.
