sounds?
anyone know of a cheap place to get an amp kit installed? i would do it myself but i don't wanna punch the firewall and i'd rather just have it done right. (don't trust myself). best quote i got so far is a possible $80 including the amp kit. any help would be appreciated. also does anyone know the rear speaker sizes? i've been given two different sizes. one more thing, has anyone put 6x9's in the rear instead of the rear speakers? i was thinking about doing that but not sure how much work is involved. thanx for any help.
The buy&sell classifieds has tons of ads on sound stuff. I got mine at professional auto stereo in waipahu. They charged 80 to install the sub amp and 80 to install the 4 channel amp under the front seats. My rear speaker size is 4" co-axial from Alpine but i don't think a 6x9 would fit.

What are you talking about punching the firewall there is a pass through hole under the intercooler...You can fit I believe 5.25 in the rear doors and 6.5 in the rear deck.

The rear deck can take 6.5" not 6x9s. If you plan to run a sub though I wouldn't put it in the deck without a baffle to block the bass. The door speakers each require a custom trim ring if you run aftermarket speakers. You can do 6.5" in the front easily and 5.25" in the rear. It is possible to get 6.5" in the back doors but it requires cutting of the metal.
The firewall plug is easy enough to get to once you pull the water reservoir off. If you want to try it yourself and need some pointers PM me.

thanx for the advice. i may need to clarify the 6x9 issue. what i meant was putting them in the rear deck and possible leaving out the rear door speakers. i noticed there looked like enough space to fit a pair but i wasn't sure if anyone had or what problems they ran into.
Where are you planning to mount your amp(s) (under front seat)? Where will these shops run wires? What interconnects will be used? How will the amp be mounted? You really need to be careful when it comes to installation quotes
Make sure the shops will be using comparable parts and materials. I'm sure you're not looking for a custom job but if you plan to own your vehicle for a while atleast make sure you use quality parts. Most cheap installs are cheap for a reason.....they cut a lot of corners, use cheap s***, and a lot of times just don't care
There are atleast 2 grommets already in the firewall.
The rear doors are 4" stock and will accept 5 1/4" but most will take a little work. I've contemplated a rear deck install but IMO its really not worth it if you're trying to save money (or even if you're not). You'd be much better off using that money on your front stage....thats where it counts
