Extended warranty, buy it? or not?
Extended warranty, buy it? or not?
If I buy my wrx wagon 5 speed, what should I expect to pay for an extended warranty and what is the duration for an extended warranty and is it even worth it to get one? I know the basic is 3/36 bumper to bumper and 5/60 powertrain, right?

I paid a grand more to double the warranty, with a $100 deduct, for my 5-spd wrx wagon.
There is a thread about this in the Maintenance & Warranty section. Someone claims to have gotten the same deal as me only with $0 deductable, so I guess it pays to haggle.
FWIW, I kinda regret it (although I won't if I start having major problems in my 4th year). But I already am itching to do some "tweaks" to bring out the performance of this awesome car, and SOA's reputation for denying warranty claims based on the presence of mods is well known... :-(

Do you think an uppipe, downpipe, exhaust, and intake will void my power train warranty? and have you had any clutch chatter problems? Seems like the wrx is pretty solid. so what is your full duration on the warranty?

I'm not a big mod guy, but the short answer to your list - probably. Of course, technically it has to be proven that a specific mod caused a specific problem, but you still might have to get a lawyer...
SOA is funny about their warranty. They give you a free year membership to SCCA, but it states quite clearly in your warranty that any participation in competitive events will void it!
As for that used wrx, sounds good - but that price may be too good? Oh, and I shouldn't have any clutch shudder, since mine is an '04, and they fixed that during the '03MY. fingers crossed...

BTW if it has a shudder...there is a recall on clutches

i got the Gold plan...7yr/80mile warranty for $1500.
