i want to remove my ac belt to gain some extra power but i have a few questions.
1. How much hp or revability will there be?
2. if for some reason i want to put the belt back on will i run into any problems with the ac not working such as the pulley seizing or air not being cold or anyother problems

i asked this question a while ago and i was told that it was a bad idea to do so. you dont get any more power or revability at all (none thats noticeable) and when you do put the belt back on, you could have some problems. so when they told me that, i figured it wasnt worth it.

just dont use it and you wont have much power drain. Removing the belt just isnt worth it.

i have my belt removed now for a year and half
i just dont use it because i have a 1.8
and you do get revability and slight gain in HP, very slight
i am even considering removing the whole system because on a 1.8 you have no power at all when AC is on

Take it all off. You will save rotational mass and general weight. It shaved like 50lbs off of my buddies DSM. And with the radiator type thing out it will provide more cooling to your radiator = keeping your car cooler = more power. It does require taking off all the hoses through the dash for total weight savings. 1 day to a weekend project (max). I only suggest this if you dont use your A/C.

If you absolutely are prepared for life without AC, then go ahead and remove it for weight savings. But the rotational inertia and cooling loss are insignificant when the AC is off.

i have thought about it im not going to do it im just gonna wait and save up to get a mrjosh pulley and see how that does. thanks for all the comments.

removing the ac will give you more than the pully

No it won't. Removing all of the AC components will save some weight, but simply removing the belt will make a negligible difference in horsepower compared to just leaving the AC off. Negligible meaning like .01 horsepower.

You have a 1.8 with A/C? holy crap! My Impreza came with out (its a 1.8 as well)
Don't remove the belt Under drive "every thing" and get the 1-5 h.p. that way.
