NYT had domestic wiretap story BEFORE the election
Where's your "liberal media" now?
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationwo...home-headlines
"The New York Times first debated publishing a story about secret eavesdropping on Americans as early as last fall, before the 2004 presidential election.
But the newspaper held the story for more than a year and only revealed the secret wiretaps last Friday, when it became apparent a book by one of its reporters was about to break the news, according to journalists familiar with the paper's internal discussions."

But there was never any problem with the surveillance! What's the story here?
There’s no doubt that keeping tabs on people with know connections to terrorist organizations is a good thing to have on our side regarding the war on terror. Who are we to say otherwise? There hasn’t been another attack since which may or may not prove its worth.
Before you say anything else I want you to lay out a list of effective measures you would practice as an attempt to curb the chances of another domestic terror attack, lojasmo. You’re out to lunch on any “effective means” you present to us do not include surveillance.
Let’s hear them…

Surveilance is fine....but wasting taxpayer money surveiling peace groups, wiretapping without warrants, and other illegal means of surveilance are unacceptable. I do not need to provide alternatives, pointing out the frankly illegal acts of the administration is my goal here.
Some quotes from high level republicans who agree with me.
"The American people are going to have to say, 'Enough of this business of justifying everything as necessary for the war on terror.'"
-Former Rep Bob Barr (R-georgia)
"I think its Presidential overreaching and I think most Americans would certainly oppose it. Just as we have been at the forefront of the call for reform of the Patriot Act, the reauthorization."
-David Keene
executive director, American Conservative Union
It's more power than King George III had at the time of the revolution in asserting the theory that anything the President thinks is helpful to fighting the war against terrorism he can do. That was why he claimed he can ignore the torture convention
-Bob Fein, Former Associate Deputy Attorney General under Reagan
"Clearly, it is an impeachable offense," he says. "I think the case is overwhelming that these people presented false information to the Congress and to the American people."
John Dean, former councel to President R.M. Nixon

But to say the administration hasn't protected America is a very bold and ultimately false statement. Given the fact tensions between radical Muslims (some on US soil) and Westerners has been at an all time high since 9/11, name as many terrorist attacks to happen on US soil since 9/11. Maybe the slight dent in civil liberties is what’s making this happen?
Here are the statistics from the DOJ: http://www.lifeandliberty.gov/subs/a_terr.htm
And although I know some of those facts don’t directly pertain to the PA, you have to admit those are damn good numbers for an Administration you believe has failed to protect America.

Doesn't this 'breaking news' seem to be coinciding with another hot issue?
