I can help you if you want. I live in Apopka. I was talking to another guy last week about putting an Injen intake in his car sometime also.(see below thread "Injen intake installation") It would be cool to all get together and check out eachothers WRX's and get some intakes put on. By the way, if you have not bought one yet go to www.subarustore.com (Titan motorsports, in Orlando) They had a Blitz SUS in the used parts section for a good deal. You might want to check it out.

I have not installed a short ram before, but I have had my airbox out before and installed turboxs stage 2 plus an uppipe on my car, so I am sure it is something I can do or help with. PM me if/when you might want to do it.

I would suggest the Perrin intake. Much nicer than the Blitz in my opinion. The only thing I don't like is the only color you can get for the filter is red. I ordered a "blue" intake, but the only blue part was the silicone hose.

Here's a pic:

Well, the two people I've talked to have said that the filter on the Blitz unit deteriorates pretty quickly. Of course, we are in the mountains and have some pretty wide ranges of temperatures and weather conditions. Plus, one guy I know had a problem with his Blitz staying installed. I'm not sure the excact problem, but the guy wasn't an idiot or anything so I have to believe he had it installed correctly. But I remember more than one time we'd stop somewhere and he would lift his hood only to find that his intake tube on the intake had come loose from the turbo inlet hose.

I like Blitz stuff usually, so I'm not saying anything bad about them. The guys around here may have just had some bad luck. But I'll stick with my Perrin. I have heard few if any complaints about any of their stuff.

The filter on the Blitz is stainless steel, so what have you seen deteriorate?

There is a paper (or maybe cloth) element inside the mesh, much like a K&N filter. On theirs, after a few months of running, there were holes about half the size of a pencil eraser in it. The first time we saw it we thought it was dirt on it, since it's so small. He removed it to clean it, and before cleaning it we held a light inside it and could see that they were actually holes.

Sorry, I was under the impression that the filter on the Blitz was 100% stainless steel. I have never looked at one up close before though.

You are clueless, dude. Go read about the blitz SUS intake before clickin your chicklets about something you know nothing about. It IS 100% stainless steel super-fine MESH.

The re are only 2 short rams that won't give cel's or lean issues, The Perrin short Ram, and the TXS short ram, The reason is the MAF tubes are the same inside diameter as the stock MAF. Plus with the Perrin the sound is wicked evil- it sounds like a jet taking off when you accelerate, and you can hear the turbo whine and also hear the stock bypass valve! Get the Perrin!!!!

I would like to hear how an all steel filter is a good idea (not hostile just want to learn) I would imagine the heat would expand the fibers and reduce air flow thus making the "steel wall" theory very true...even tempered steel would behave similarly. Does anyone know a good site where I can read about this?
