View Full Version : Fair termination? What do you think?
IS2Scooby 07-15-2005, 02:13 AM HOUSTON -- When Bassam Khalaf raps, he's the Arabic Assassin. His unreleased CD, "Terror Alert," includes rhymes about flying a plane into a building and descriptions of himself as a "crazy, suicidal Arabic ... equipped with bombs."
Until last week, Khalaf also worked as a baggage screener at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
HELL YES.

This is all we need... another wonderful roll model for our corruptable youth....

Just so you know what the enemy looks like:

MVWRX 07-15-2005, 11:35 AM He should have been fired because of his proximity to airplanes. But not censored. He's got a point about Eminem...a white boy sings about blowing up buildings and says f*** you to Bush and it's a top seller. An arabic guy does the same and he gets fired and starts a controversy. Say what you want about profiling or whatever, dude desearves to rap what he wants.

Excellent point.
The only, and very weak, defense I can offer is that we are presently fighting suicidal followers of Islam, and not White Trash Suburbanites.
MVWRX 07-15-2005, 11:41 AM True...although some in congress might say that they're at war with today's counter-culture society also.

He should have just got on an airplane and yelled "bomb!"

Bingo.
MVWRX 07-15-2005, 03:16 PM Bagage handlers at an airport in Houston have daily access to the President? That's news to me...
I understand the point that this guy had access to planes. BUT Eminem does too. He could buy his own if he wanted. To be honest, of the two (an arabic wanabe rapper from Houston that handled baggage for a living or a uber-rich white rapper with a penchant for evil and access to anything he can afford which is everything), I'd be a lot more worried about Eminem than this guy.

I don't think Eminem is stupid enough to do something like that. He has come too far in his life to throw it all away to something like that. He'll just wait for the next election and speak out again.

Yeah, I definatly agree. I was just pointing out that he's just as (if not more) suspicious in regards to terrorist activity than this no-name Houstonian who we probably never should have heard of.

Fixed ;)
EricDaRed81 07-15-2005, 03:39 PM Bagage handlers at an airport in Houston have daily access to the President? That's news to me...Nice spin jackhole :)
I'd be way more worried about someone putting things onto planes everyday then a guy that sits in his mansion watching TV or is recording another song.

I wouldn't say Eminem is just as suspious, he's just voicing his opinion in a way where millions of fans and radio listeners can hear it.
This no-name probably just wanted to do the same. But he should have thought about it some more.
jvick125 07-15-2005, 03:42 PM Fixed ;)
thanks :D

I don't understand what 'spin' I did.
But eminem didn't work at a place where he had everyday access to the president.
...implying that this guy DOES have everyday access to the President, hence my response...
Bagage handlers at an airport in Houston have daily access to the President? That's news to me...
Smartass comment? Yes. Spin? None.
The guy worked at a crappy job and had no extra time or cash. Eminem has lots of both. Idle hands...yeah you know the rest.
EricDaRed81 07-15-2005, 03:46 PM I don't understand what 'spin' I did.

No, it implied that no-name had access to what he was threatening.
Eminem talked **** about the president but didn't have access to Bush.
No-name talked about blowing up planes and had access to planes.
I never said no-name had access to the president.
MVWRX 07-15-2005, 03:50 PM Ok, my bad...miscomnication...at this point it's symantics though...I'm pretty sure both our opinions are voiced now.

We see your point, some just like to argue semantics
Bottom line is that this guy is a pos who was trying to capitalize off people who are too stupid to know it's wrong, just like eminem. The difference is that this guy and his idiotic rants had every day access and special clearence that conflicts with security. It would be like hiring a phelon as a prison security guard or a convicted child molester as a pre school teacher an athiest to sing in a church chior or Jenna Jameson to speak out for abstainence. It just doesn't make sense.

GREAT examples.

While I understand the sentiment, I think you underestimate the power of money. My point being this: if the reason you think this guy is more of a threat or scarier than Eminem with respect to terrorism due to his access/cearlence, then Eminem should scare the s*** out of you because he has WAY more access to WAY more crucial things than a fraction of the baggage at the Houston airport. Like, as I mentioned, whole airplanes with the only security being his own hired goons.
All of this is not to say that I think Eminem is a terrorist threat. I'm just pointing out that from an objective viewpoint, Eminem actually does have more of an ability to perform a terrorist act than this guy does so that's a bad reason to say this guy's music should be censored.
I hope we're clear, though, that I do agree that this guy should have been fired. I had that in my first post and I still agree. It'd be like a fireman bragging about setting fires in NY city or something.
MVWRX 07-15-2005, 04:09 PM It would be like hiring a guy who talks about commiting felonies as a prison security guard or a guy who sings about being a child molester as a pre school teacher or a guy who brags about being an athiest to sing in a church chior or a want-to-be porn star to speak out for abstainence. It just doesn't make sense.
Fixed. Those were decent examples, but didn't correlate to this situation. This guy never actually was a terrorist, just a working class stiff that made a pretty stupid career decision.

I agree, I just don't think he belongs working in an airport, or many other places for that matter.
Chrisnonstop 07-16-2005, 12:32 AM Did M&M say he was going to kill anyone or imply that he was? I don't listen to tard ass so I wouldn't know. But if he didn't say he was going to kill anyone than he's not as guilty as this guy. This dude apparently stated outright that he was going to blow up some buildings and planes or something...correct me if I'm wrong. So he had the intent, the means, and ability...I vote we kill his ass...lol.
MVWRX 07-16-2005, 06:04 PM Eminem pretty much says he's gonna kill everyone.
VIBEELEVEN 07-17-2005, 12:35 PM Eminem pretty much says he's gonna kill everyone.
My brother had a roommate in college who got pissed at someone and said he would kill them and was arrested for "terrorist threats"
It makes you wonder where the line is between threats and freedom of speach/irresponsible entertainment.
IS2Scooby 07-17-2005, 04:27 PM It's all in hearing and not the saying.
Nowadays it's not what you say, but who you say it to and how they take it.
:(
The audience's (or listener's) perception becomes the artist's (speaker's) reality.
Salty 07-18-2005, 09:21 PM **** him. You rap about terrorist ideals and don't expect to get fired as a baggage handler? HA! I think the worst about reporting on this type of BS is that the media has given him the best advertising a rap "artist" could ask for.
Don't censor him. Wish my tax dollars could go toward some real American thugs throwing his chopped-up anti-American ass in the Hudson. I would pay to see his Muslim ass sinking in a canvas sack.
May have to find those few thugs that haven’t done time in a federal prison. This way we can assure they aren’t Muslim too. ;) :D
