WRX wheels and 225/50-16 Tires on L

I have a 96 LX Coupe, I am getting a set of used WRX wheels, and am planning to mount a set of 225/50-16's on them. I have Eibach ProKit springs on as well. Does anyone know if I would expierience any rubbing with this combo? Thanks

BTW: I am thinking about Sumitomo HTR+ rubber. They seem to be pretty popular on Subys. I wish I could get some non All Seasons, but where I live can have some very differing whether, so I'd rather be safe than sorry.

225's on a stock rim with the L will probably rub the struts. Thats a bit of an issue I would say. 215's would be safer.

aren't stock wrx wheels 16 inch? or was that just a typo?

It will also depend a lot on what tire you get, some are wider than others (physical dimensions) 215 would be safer.

Good Luck

Stock WRX wheels are indeed 16's. I think 225's would be pushing it on a lowered L, hence I agree with the others' suggestion of 215's instead.

Yeah, bad typo sorry. So 215/50 R16 on WRX rims should be okay? Won't be too much fender gap with the smaller diameter?

They don't make HTR's in that size...damn. I though people ran RE92's on WRX stock rims on L's?

When dealing with tire width, worry more about fender and strut rubbing and less about fender gap.

Well since they don't have the HTR's in 215/50. I guess I'll stay with the stock WRX tire size at 205/55 that should not be a problem on my car ?

It definently won't be a fit issue, but with whatever tires you get, wider will still provide more traction. So I don't entirely understand the decision theres other good tires out there. If I'm misunderstanding you, and your just sticking with the tires that came with the wheel, then enjoy. But virtually all tires are better than re92s! Whatever you decide, good luck

i too am thinking about putting 225's on stock WRX wheels but on a 93 L. If there will be rubbing issues with the struts is there anything we can do to prevent that? It's my goal to run 225's on this car with three rules:

-the tires can't stick out from the factory fenders.
- the scrub radius can not be effected too much.
-and no rubbing.

is that possible? i was thinking it might be if i swap in a few WRX suspension parts.
