winter tires for seattle!!

ok well the tires taht come with the sti are for summer use on dry pavement...basically slicks....but for the winter (especially in seattle) what tires are you guys using? is it ok to get by with the summer tires? dam it sure is a hassle to get winter tires tho...

how did you guys (especially seattle sti owners because of the rain) deal with this problem? did you guys just get new tires? if so what kind? or did you guys get a whole new set of rims? ok neway thanks in advance for your inputs.

The stock tires, aren't too bad in rain. Last weekend was the first time I was out in a downpour. Even with standing water on the highway, I didn't hydroplane.

Tires

We just had 4 days of straight hard rains and I had no problems with my stock tires.

For winter I ordered a set of Conti Extreme Contacts.

I live down in Olympia. I haven't changed my tires yet but I plan to. I haven't been in wet weather recently either as you know it's been pretty hot and dry here in the north washington area. I wouldn't be taken these tires into the snow or anything this winter. I'm just getting a set of cheap Nitto 235/40/17's any throwing them on the stock wheels.

Well now I've had these tires out in the recent rains and they seem fine to me. Haven't slipped around or hydroplained at all. I heard they're only like 15k tires so I may just keep them on until they wear out.
