Winter\all season Tires

Hello all,

I currently have Kumho Ectsa MXs one my WRX and need to change over soon. I would like a tire that performs fairly well (I'm not expecting summer tires stuff here) and will also work well in a New England winter. I've read a lot of posts and reviews and have considered the Pirelli Neros and also a more dedicated winter tire such as the ones Michellin makes that perform well even if the road temperature is fairly warm. I look forward to our input. Thanks.

My recommendation is the Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S. They were good in the dry, and performed great in the Colorado winter.

I really like my Nokian NRW's (which have been replaced by the improved "WR's"). It is Nokian's all-season tire. I'm going on my third winter with them (I run summer specific tires half the year) and almost all the sipes are still showing. I do most of my driving on them in the relatively warm bay area climate, which is a tribute to their wear characteristics. They handle fresh snow extremely well and deal with ice better than stock...but nothing short of a dedicated winter tire will do much on ice.

Dry handling is a tad better than the RE92's, but definitely squirmy compared to my summer set up.

I switch to a set of Dunlop Wintersport M2's in the winter. Always gets me to Tahoe and back during the winter and decent grip on dry roads. I hear the Wintersport M3's are even better.
