Pirrelli's are great tires. Pirrelli has been a loyal sponsor of SWRT since day 1, if I remember correctly.
I wouldn't say that Michelin are better tires. They are great as well.
Pirrelli's are just as great and they proved it many many times.
Also, Michelin are from France.
j/k.

because the Pirelli girls are hot
ever see a Michelein pit girl in the service park?
seriously though, i think imprezer is right that Pirelli has been with Subaru from the start. Ford uses Pirelli too, or at least they did (i'm not sure if they still do). Peugot and Citroen are both French teams, so there may also be some national loyalty there.

i'm pretty sure that Ford ran Pirellis last year too. every tarmac event, the announcers would go on and on about how Subaru and Ford were off the pace due to the Pirelli tires that they were running. the Micheleins were better on dry tarmac, but the Pirellis were better in the rain -- which was why Ford and Subaru kept praying for rain on the tarmac stages last year.

$220 each... yikes! even $150 a piece is a lot when you have to have a few sets of tires, and then add in a couple sets of wheels. now i am starting to understand why so many people in the US stick to circle track racing with old school rwd's. rally is $$$! but i would still blow all my money to build a rally car over a stock car any day!!

You're in corona, so there's tons of rocks around. I'd get a set of the medium compound X tires and drive them until they explode.
