Wheels for 92 Turbo Legacy
I found out the hard way that 16x7.5 wheels will cause tire clearance problems in my car (the 205/55-16 tires occasionally rub against the suspension in hard bumps and/or when the car is under heavy loads). I am wondering if anybody has successfully used 16x7 wheels with the same tires, or even with a 17x7 and 205/50-17 combination with a 92 Turbo Legacy.
I know that WRX Wheels (16x6.5) will also work in my car, but I believe that the dealer will charge me a bundle for a set of them, and Tire Rack is currently out of stock.

Ya, I run oem wrx 16x6.5 wheels with 205/55R16 on my 92 Legacy SS with absolutely no problems. Offset is the biggest factor. I know some people run 17x7 wheels without problems on the bc/bf Legacys but others have had to shave their fenders.

Yes, the 16x7.5 wheels also made the tires rub against the fender a bit, but a body shop fixed that problem. I am curious to hear from anybody that has either a)16x7 wheels and 205/55-16 tires, or b)17x7 wheels and 205/50-17 tires, on their "bc/bf" Legacy.
Also, I would like to find an inexpensive source for a new set of WRX wheels (Tire Rack had them for $88 each, but unfortunately are presently sold out). That is the only 16x6.5 wheel that I know of that is made for a Subaru, and are a bit harder to find.

I currently have 205/45R17 wheels on my 92' Legacy(bc6), and it has lowered suspension, originally the rear suspension was too low and would rub on the fender just about everywhere, i raised it about an inch, now it will only rub if there is more than 2 people in the car and i take a corner at a fairly high speed(not extremely fast), im not quite sure what offset they are but im thinking they are at least 7.0 for that much initial rubbing, though it is fine now, though the car doesnt look as good as it used to when it was lowered, i think the best way to go is to get wheels that will not rub AT ALL, and lower the suspension nicely. I would recommend to you staying away from wheels that are too large as they may ruin your driving experience of taking a corner at high speed especially if you have an AWD.
Hope that helps
