Wheel Size: Looks vs 1/4 Usage

Ok, so here's my dilema. I'm moving to Hawaii and getting a WRX, of course, I mean what else would I buy. The debate in my head is this. I love the looks of some nice 18" wheels, but I think 17"s would be more practical for 1/4 mile use.

Just looking for feedback and opinions.

Thanks all, Dave

Well, Im not THAT serious about the 1/4 mile, not enough to sacrafice a good looking ride. I might just pick up some racing wheels if it comes to that tho. Maybe this way I can get my 18's and a set for racing, might be the only real solution for me.

Thanks.

You could buy some 18 in rims to drive around town on and use your stock 16 in rims for the track.

Dave, have you considered getting wheels just big enough to fit a big brake kit? 17-inchers will do it for me and that is the way I'm planning on going...

Keep in mind that bigger tires cost bigger bucks come replacement time.

p.s. - Good luck on your move and car purchase!

I ran 12's on 17" Rota Sub-zero's and Yokohama AVS rubber.

At this point the money is ok with me I just want to end up with what I like. I will check out everyones car in HI when I get there and make a decision then. Probably 17"s since they sound like they will be the best decision. Definitely Superleggeras.
