That is very sly, sleek, and tricky.

Krinkov, those are the Ecsta V700s NOT the VictoRacer V700s. Different tire.....yeah, Kumho could have come up with a less confusing naming scheme

The Ecsta V700 gives up some cornering ability to the VictoRacer V700 but gets a slight bit more straight-line traction as a trade-off. The Ecsta V700 also has the crappy quality of NOT wearing well under cornering loads unless you're willing to run pretty severe negative camber. Been there, done that, corded the tires on my WRX .

Before the V710 was available, the "hot" Kumho R Compound setup on a powerful RWD car was to run the VictoRacer V700s on the front and Ecsta V700s on the back.

As for the V710....lots stickier, but tread life will be too short to be usable here. And it has NO tread pattern on it, so rain traction is out as well..

You can buy any of the Kumho tires at TireRack.

I'll once again emphasize that the Kumho VictoRacer works "OK" as a rain tire WHEN NEW (i.e. decent tread depth). Once well worn, you're not gonna wanna do over 30-35 MPH in the wet in them!

correct, and you are now the second person to correct me on that this month, had the victos on my old roadster so I always get confused, but everything I wrote applys to the Ecsta V700s

As for the Victo V700s I would consider them a hardly street friendly and ONLY a dry summer tire.

Not familiar with the 710s though...

So Impala would you recomend getting the victoracers V700's for the front and get the ecsta V700 for the rear? or was that the old craze a while back? Now the new question is does Kumho make the size's i need.

Heres mine in 245/40/17 mounted on some torques next to some 225/40s

Krinkov in that picture are the ones on the left the ecsta V700's? what are the ones on the right?

EDIT: they dont make VictoRacers in 265's which would be my front. so i can eather get Ecsta V700's all they way around or go with some different, i dunno

If you are talking about a dry asphalt DOT legal tire for road racing, the stickiest tire on the market is the Hoosier. We ran some testing with tires and the Victoracers were a second to a second and a half slower than the Hoosiers at Laguna Seca and Thunderhill. They also wear twice as fast and don't try to use them in the wet.

Other than that, slicks.

My 2 cents: The guys who really race, who are not getting free tires , seem to prefer the Hoosiers. You wouldn't want them wet, but on clean dry asphalt, they seem to be it.

Folks here recommending Hoosiers, I left those out for a couple of reasons :

1. The tread life is so short as to not work here.
2. There is some decent evidence that the new V710 actually outsticks the Hoosiers anyways . Remember, the V710 (in its current form) has only been out about 3 MONTHS right now so folks are still just finding out just how well it works.

blue blurr : The Ecsta V700s all around could work fine, just that you may have to run more negative camber in front to even out treadwear (and maximize performance). In a Mustang application, this would mean on the order of -2 to -3 degrees of camber.

As for the RA-1s : good tire, if you're looking for sort of "95%" of the traction (albeit with longer tread life) compared to the V700s. Note that the Toyos come with a LOT of mold compound on them, so you will have to do significant heat cycling (or shave them, with less heat cycling) to get them to stick to the max of their potential.

Put another way : there's are good reasons that practically every R-compound running autocrosser out there (yes, including those who pay for the tires which is the vast majority of them) runs either the Kumhos (one of the 3) or Hoosiers instead of Toyos, Pilot Sports, A032Rs, etc etc

Kumhos suck! V700's chunk off when u get them too hot. V710's are a race tire thats not ment to be heat cycled more than a few times. Get Toyo RA-1's. AWSOME TIRE! If you went to tha ALMS weekend you will see most of the teams use RA-1's.

4XREX : did they shave the tires first before going on the road course? If not, that explains the chunking. It also gets to the crux of why Kumho TELLS YOU to shave them
