Tires to get for 2008 Subaru WRX

I am planning on getting a set of new tires for a 2008 Subaru WRX. What are some recommendations?

What is the cheapest tires that I can get?
Do you recommend me getting it from Discount Tire or any other tire shops?

Ask Luke at Tirerack.com
I always get my tires from Tirerack.com, shipped to my home, then take them to a local korean tire shop and have them mount, rotate, balance for $20/tire.

Thanks, tub_of_butter I just PM'd you. My tire size is 205/50-17. I am looking for some tires that have good grip on dry and wet roads. I also plan to go to the mountains so I want a tire that can grip good in the snow.

Get continental DWS's great all season tire.

They're 130 a piece for your size on tirerack, spend the extra money, you won't regret it once snow hits.

I would say wait a little bit and then get the Toyo Proxes 4 Plus when they are stocked, they have been released, but not many places have them in yet. They appear to offer the same performance as the DWS, but at a slightly cheaper price per tire. We sell both here and we have had great reviews on the DWS, so I would recommend them as well, but you stated price as a concern so I thought I would mention the cheaper option.

Don't forget we offer price matching so we can do our best to give you the lowest prices around.

I read that these size tires 215/45R17 will also work too. I read that this size is a little wider. What is better to go with 215/45R17 or 205/50ZR17?

If you can fit 225/45/17, I'd do that.

Federal 595 are awful tires. I'd recommend something else, esp for the needs started.

Curious as to why you say they are horrible tires? I ran these tires previously on my 1995 M3 as well as my Subaru and have 0 problems with them. They handle 130+ speeds very well and gripped very well on the M3 during auto-X events. The key to these tires is to rotate them often and monitor your tire pressures like every other tire.

I guess I just been very luck so far with these tires.. What problems have you had or heard of so I can keep an eye out?
