Wink Tire suggestions. needs immediate respond =D

keeping it short. does anybody know if the Bridgestone RE050 or Eagle F1s are any good? i went to tire rack.com and they have different types in each of these names.. which i dont really understand the difference =l
are there anything else comparable to these set of tires? trying to look for tires that are good in rain and dry. and MAINLY street driving. i have read people having the Re01.. but those seem to be best for track tires? welps if anybody can give me some respone. need to figure out by this friday =X thankkss

the difference is typically in the rubber compound the tires are made from. I had the re050a's (no longer made I think) and they were pretty good on the street.

You'll get people saying "oh, blah blah blah is the BEST, so what if its $50 more a tire" but remember, you don't need the best track tire for the street

oh yeah, RFT=run-flat tire

Goodyear F1's are a great street tire and very good in the wet. When my current set wears out and/or I decide to switch to 18's, I will buy the F1's again.

Specifically, I have these: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....Eagle+F1+GS-D3

This is a tough question, all three (RE050A, F1 and RE01R) are well regarded. Your best bet is to search all three and then pull the trigger on one Either way you wont be dissapointed.

FWIW I had the RE050A on my old wrx wagon and they were great in the wet and dry.

Well, I had the RE050A, got them on sale because they were being replaced with the pole position. Not sure of the difference between the RE050 and RE050 PP.....but the pole positions get good reviews.

The pole positions are on sale for $137 in 225/45/17, thats my size for a 2004 STi....not sure if the 07 STi is a different size.

Again, you cant really go wrong, all good tires

The RE050A Pole Position is the newest and best. I use 255/40-17. They have great grip wet and dry and don't let go suddenly. I've had them on another car for about 11,000 miles, and they seem to last well for a sticky tire.

hmmmm

tires that'll actually last some miles on the street (vs) an unnecessarily sticky tire with horrible treadware for a street tire just so you can be up on the latest trend

thats a toughie

Potenza RE050
  • original rubber compound, least sticky

Potenza RE050 RFT
  • original compound in a run-flat design

Potenza RE050A
  • upgraded rubber compound from the original, little stickier

Potenza RE050A II RFT
  • dont know which compound, run-flat design

Potenza RE050A Pole Position
  • stickiest compound these tires come in

Potenza RE050A RFT
  • upgraded rubber compound from the original in a run-flat design

Potenza RE050A Scuderia
  • something weird and special for some certain car (guessing that due to the two sizes available)

i have the F1's and aren't really satisfied with them unless it's raining/wet, but i guess for daily use they are fine. Just not as performance oriented when comparing to other high performance tires.

if you had to choose between the re-01 vs the re050a pp . for a aggressive street tire. plus daily driver. what would you choose?
ive never been on a track and wanted to go someday. taking that into consideration. what is the best tire to go for?

Go w/ RE050A Pole Position! Especially when you can get $100 cash card!

Seriously... I'd say RE-01R would be overkill for daily driving. I think RE050A PP would still be great for occasional track day.
