Heads up for bridgestone tires.
Just as a heads up, I was thumbing through the newest Car and Driver and there's an ad for TireRack with Bridgestone rewards card.
They have a whole bunch of tires listed, but I think the ones we'd be interested in is $100 reward card (basically a $100 AMEX prepaid gift card) for buying 4 RE050A Pole Position, RE050A, or RE050s.
Or, if you're not so much into performance tires, there's $75 for the RE960AS Pole Position.
Says offer valid April 13, 2008 - May 10, 2008. Last time there was this type of rebate, it was a Bridgestone rebate, so I don't think you'll have to buy it from TireRack. Last time I got mine from America's Tire Co (used to work there so my manager gives me nice discounts) and got the $75 gift card on top, pretty nice deal.

WOW, this will be my third set of 050's!
1st set came on my car used
2nd i bought a special on Tirerack for $80 each.
Now this will be another great deal! Thanks for the heads up!
(FYI they last about 20K miles, my commute is 1/2 mtn 1/2 freeway with -1.5 camber all around.)
i corner like mad on abrasive 10 grit road and the corners are still there. Great tires.

I had the RE050A's on my car at one point and they were great tires. I got rid of the wheels they were on though. I drove them through what little rain we had here on the central coast 06/07 winter and they held great in the wet. The road I live on is twisty too, so its not like I'm saying they were great after only driving on the freeway

cool 225-50-16 $119 special.
hopefully i can combine the two...it will be $380 which is still a lot.
they are heavy tires too. my 16's are 26lbs...RS2's are 23
They are fine in the rain, mine are bald, like 2/32's and its hard to get the rear loose in the rain, you really have to push it. Never really hydroplaned.
