tire size : performance ratio?

I got the 17 inch prodrive rims with kumho ecsta MXs 215-45-17

I am about to purchase the continental extreme contacts

considering either 225/45/17 OR 215/45/17

anybody know the performace diffrences in acceleration?

also whats the best 0-60 you guys made- please point out performance mods

you aren't going to have any difference in acceleration between the two tires, where you are going to see teh difference is in the handling

the slightly wider tire will be slightly heavier, which means a slight degredation in performance while accelerating and braking.

as to whether you will notice it or not, probably not.

215s are a bit short so theoretically you'll get through a gear faster but true acceleration, say 0-100, will be agrueably unaffected considering additional shifs and disregarding speedo readings and going with actual mph calculations. Go with the 225 - your speedo is closer to correct and the gear ratios function as they should.

I got 225's on my 18x7.5's but a 215 or 235 would probably not have a noticable performance difference, as all these guys have already stated. But obviously the wider the tire, the more road contact (provided the pavement is dry).
