Azenis

Everybody I've talked to at the local SCCA autocross events recommends the Falken Azeni.

The general opinion on the Azenis is "They're cheap, they're sticky, the durability is okay, but whatever you do don't use them in the snow." Khumos (apparently ) will get you a half-second or better over the Azenis, and Hoosiers are better yet - and they're also a heck of a lot more expensive.

I haven't noticed anybody running on the other tires you mentioned.

Auto-X tire size

Here's a question for all the autocrossers out there. What tire size do you suggest for auto-x events? Do you suggest a 225/50/16 (on stock wheels) or 225/45/17 (on aftermarket wheels)? What are each of the sizes benefits and drawbacks?

Thanks!

Anthony

sprinter-ae86 has a good point. The type of course you typically run is a factor is the wheel size you choose, as is the class you want to compete in.

To learn what you can and can't modify (and stay in the stock class), get a copy of the SCCA rules - you might be suprised. For example, I found out that I can put on a $700 catback exhaust and stay stock, but if I changed the $100 end links on the rear sway bar I would move to the STX class. ( i think thats the class. they have so many I have trouble keeping them all straight.)
