Ticking noise after mounting and balancing tires.

i just had my tires mounted and balance and as i was driving i realized that my car kept ticking wen im moving. the ticking is only noticeable from 0-45 miles and after that u cant hear it nemore. wat can this be? i doubt it is my axle or cv boots becuz its a 3 month old car. it is a 2005 sti does neone know wat this is? thank you.

also as they were removing the factory wheel weight that balance the tires that left scratch marks on all 4 rims. have this happened to neone else as well?

Thanks.

New tires can get rocks stuck in the tread very easily, check them for a stuck rock, it might be the culprit.

I just had advan ad07 put on my 05 sti and what you might be hearing is rocks or the stickers that they put on the tiers.

3 things can do that.

1. Something got stuck in the tread.
2. Stickers still on the thread.
3. Weight stickers are hitting something. Caliper or brake line.

I bet it is #3.

I bet it is too, because there is very little clearance for sticky weights (they have to use the ultra-thin ones) between the calipers and the wheel surface.

Talking Check All You Lug Nuts!!!

What you are describing is exactly what I was having. I just had the same thing happen to me but i had a much scarier ending. I ended up loosing 4 lug nuts B4 I found the problem, 2 were off the drivers side front tire, and 2 more were about to fall off other wheels, I thank god that a tire didn't come off on me.

oops, I should read the entire thred first... My bad, I retract my statement

Take it back to where you had the tires mounted and balanced and have them fix it asap. They are the morons who didn't do it right, make them pay for your calipers to be repainted. The stock weights leave a tiny mark on the rim. Not very noticeable.
