Higher speed rating simply means they can sustain higher speeds.

The assumptions associated with higher speed ratings might include:

*stiffer sidewall
*rougher ride
*better traction
*softer tread rubber
*quicker wear
*tougher steel belt system
*less tire deformation due to increased air pressure and rotational inertia
*better resistance to heat build up
*better adhesion to a wet road
