Hi,
I have just acquired some 18” BK racing 322 alloys fitted with 225/40Z R18 tyres. A Subaru garage claimed they should fit my 1999 classic with stock suspension. With this info in hand I went to fit them, they seemed to go on ok! They looked cool, so I decided to go for a test run.
One slight problem emerged, the back tyres are catching on the back wheel arches (the black plastic strips that attach to the arches) intermittently, for example when the car is going uphill.
Any ideas what I can / should do??? Any of you guys expert advise would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
Barney
PS I searched but couldn’t find an answer that I could act upon. : - (

have your fenders rolled.....
if you dont know what that means:
take a look at the wheel well, where it is rubbing, you will notice that there is a lip that the black plastic is attached to, you can basically roll that lip up inside the wheel well to give you some more clearance. If you dont know how to roll your fenders using the baseball bat method (seriously), take it to a good body shop, they can do it for you.
this is a pretty common problem from what I have found with alot of cars, not just subys, esp. if you are running on oversized rims.

Thanks for all the input and advice, we removed the rubber strips and rolled the fenders using a piece of scaffolding wrapped with gaffa tape, not having access to a baseball bat living in England and a cricket bat wouldn’t fit : - ). This worked perfectly and we didn’t even crack the paint work. Thanks again people. Respect is due!!!

sorry for poor quality, photo was taken with my nokia phone
rubbing update: I drove to Sheffield the day after the fender mod which is about 60 miles away, a mixture of motorways and country roads. The tyres clipped the arches about three times, just briefly each time. So the following day we rolled the fender again to the maximum angle possible, seems ok so far… not had 4 people in yet though.
