Question Remove air pressure

If I let all of the air out of a tire will I be able to pull the tire away from the rim? I want to paint the wheels with the tires on and would like the tire to be out of the way if only a little bit.

you probably can, bet it's very difficult. it it's already hard with the machine, i can imagine how hard it could be without it.

The tie has a very stiff sidewall. Even with no air it will not freely move away from the rim. It would be enough to wedge in some kind of shim, but thats about it. Also, if you pull the bead away from the rim edge, you may not be able to get it pumped back up without compressed air.
