quick nub question about tires
My back right tire recently popped for reasons i do not know about. They were cheap *** no name tire brand purchased by the previous owner. anyways they are 235/40-17. Since none of my friends knew anything about tires I thought i should ask here. Do my new set of tires have to be 235/40-17 or can it be...say 215/45-17? thanks

What size rims?
A 17x7 or 17x7.5 can use 215/45's or 225/45's...most tire manufacturers suggest a 17x8 as minimum width for 235/40's
You should have all 4 tires the same tire and all tires should be within less than 3/32's difference in tread depth...ie don't mount new and old tires(get new tires shaved to match old tire depth) and don't mix tire brand/type...all 4 tires have to be the same.
