PS2's, I finaly did it

After much discussion back and forth and much covetous behavior with regards to which tire I would get, I broke down and spent the big dollars. I was tending to the Azenis sport on the low end and on the high end I was shooting for the RE070's from Tire Rack(please note I do not go in snow, I slow down for rain due to the buttholes that sprout up when it does rain and I wanted a summer max tire). I was at costco and saw these and just fell in love. At 200.99 ea. (mounted , balanced, valve stems not incl. tax) they came in under the $184 Re's at Tire Rack after finding a drop ship location to do the work.
They are fantastic, I promised myself I would treat myself to a high dollar tire one day and this is it!
If anyone gets the urge to drive on down to Costco and slap some on don't even bother if you don't have stock rims. They will not do it. I begged the wife for her car today so I could take in my rims, see they'll put them on loose rims if the rim size is in the tire parameters( they won't strech 235s on 7.5s) but you have to mount themon the car. This does nothing to the warranty, lifetime balancing, rotation etc. Isn't that wierd? Its wierd because they still ask you what its going on!
This did not bother me because I cringe at taking aluminum rims to tire places because you know they're gonna hit em with an impact gun! Hand Tight and Tourqe for me only (Costco does promise hand tourquing by the way).
Man am I happy with these tires!

IMO good tires are the best mod for a performance vehicle and the Ps2’s are a great tire. Right now I have S03’s and I plan on buying another set of S03’ or Ps2’ (depends on what is cheaper) when these wear out. The one thing that I don’t like about the S03’s is the road noise when they get some miles on them but the tradeoff is worth it.
BTW the Ps2’s are great in the wet. Tirerack compared the Ps2 and S03 in the wet, the Ps2’s were rated a little better than the S03’s and my S03’s are great in the wet.

The wet performance was proven yesterday when I picked them up, but today with a break in the weather they realy shined.
Noise wasn't a consideration with the JIC exhaust drowning out any tire noise, but as far as grip goes , hold on cause they stick, hard braking under emergency stops (twice today) also let you know your money was well spent.

PS2s on an 05 STi
I wore out my re070s in about 9800 miles so I had to get new tires just a couple months back. It was perfect timing considering the rain season starts late in Norcal but its been pouring lately and the PS2's have been excellent.
They grip extremely well and they're significantly more comfortable than the RE070s. They aren't as agile and responsive as the RE070s (i'm talking maybe 5-10% here) but the softer and QUIET ride really helps for my long highway commute.
I cant stress enough how well these tires are in the rain. I've hit huge puddles and not hydroplaned. Its taken a 3" deep puddle to shake the grip on these PS2s and even then I didn't really get that scared because I knew they'd grip as soon as I was through... with the RE070s I probably would not be here to write this review... especially considering they were bald after several track days.
I havent had a chance to push these tires on the track but they're definitely the best all around street tire I've driven. The wet performance is simply amazing considering the amount of dry grip they have. I drive calaveras road about every other day and even when its damp they are very confidence inspiring.

Remember that your new sticky tires are going to put more stress on the tranny when you launch the car. I dont dump the clutch all the time but my clutch will slip a little when I have the 225-45-17 S03's mounted and it wont with my 205/55/16 Traction t/a's.

To those contemplating the purchase that likes getting them with no sales tax...a good deal for probably (after4 days now) the most fantastical tire I have driven on in my almost 40 years.
I never launch my car, always afraid of breaking something, but when I get her going all hell breaks loose!I love tire chirpers who take off next to me just to be spanked while getting out of second!

so what you are saying is if i had some 18" volks on my wrx, and i drive there in my wrx with the volks on, they will not mount them... but if i take in the volks in the trunk of my friend's honda, they will mount the tires on the volks, and they still ask you what car the volks are going on?

I found this very strange but it was not the first I had heard of it.
If the tire size you want fits the rim you have but isn't your stock size you're stuck hauling them in the honda!
Then you tell them they're going on the car they refused to put them on while they were mounted on the car and everything is peachy! They'll rotate them , patch them and do everything they do to tires while they are on the car that they weren't suposed to be on in the first place as long as they weren't on the car at some point and I am getting even more confused as I write.
This legality was most likely drafted by the same person who wrote that male to male oral copulation is homosexual behavior unless one male is dressed convincingly as a female at which point no one needs to know anything. Wait aminute , I wrote that but it was just to organize a drive to the Tranny Shack with the northbay crowd!
All kidding aside, Costco 's tire policy is silly but who ever you get tires through, the PS2's are a fantastic tire and should be considered when searching for a serious Max summer tire with unbelieveable rain handling characteristics.
