proper tire size and backspacing

I have asked alot of local wheel/tire places and I get a few different answers to my question. My question is.......what is the proper tire size and backspacing for a 18x7.5 rim on the subies. Please for the love of God can someone give me a contrete answer to my question lol. Thanks for the help.

I would think 225/40/18 (OD would only be 5.3mm off) or 215/40/18 (2.7mm off) would be best and I think you are talking about offset when you say backspaceing and the offset is from 48-52mm. Ive been told 215 is better with a 48mm offset and 225 is better with a 52mm offset to avoid rubing.
