Plus Sizing for Stock '91
Hi,
I've got an old '91 Legacy 4wd wagon with a 185/70HR14 requirement for tires and I'm running out of options. Going with anything less than H-rated makes for a very mushy ride and right now there are only two tires indicated that fit the car on the Tire Rack.
My question is three-fold. First, is the next higher size of 195/65HR14 the correct size to keep the speedo correctly calibrated? Second, can I put this size tire on the stock rims? And third, do you think it would rub?
Thanks,
Mike

You can use either 195/65/14 or 195/70/14. The 65 series will be a little lower than OE & the 70s will be slightly higher. These tires will work fine on your OE wheels. They should not rub. Gererally speaking, you need to more cautious if you are going 2 or more sizes bigger, as far as with compliance w/ OE wheels & rubbing.
