You're probably right but I doubt it has anything to do with gas mileage. Using nitrogen is good for maintaining tire pressure. AFAIK the regular old air you get at the gas station has moisture in it and we all know what happens to water when it heats up.

The next time you fill up hit the trip button and drive like you normally would. The next time you fill up look at the mileage and how many gallons it took to fill it up. Then divide the mileage by the # of gallons and you will know what kind of gas mileage your getting.

I do this every time I fill up and if I notice a drop in mileage I know I either need to lighten my foot or something needs to be replaced.

I've been using butane for years, with low profile tires and magnesium wheels.

:rotfl:

If you ever get stranded in the middle of nowhere you could bleed butane out of your valve stem, hit your wheel with a rock and viola flame thrower :flamethrower51235:

So you're saying I shouldn't be doing this?

I thought you were joking. Butane and magnesium are both flammable. You can buy bars of magnesium and use the filings as a fire starter http://wildwoodsurvival.com/survival...ium/index.html .

Not a combination I'd want. I'd hate to see what would happen if you ran over a nail or screw since tires have steel belts. Check this out http://darwinawards.com/darwin/darwin2000-27.html

BTW, Ive never heard of running butane in tires. What are the benefits?

You can huff the butane to get a pretty nice high,

I though the butane was a joke.I didnt even know you can put butane in your tires, would the butane not heat up in tires and and maybe explode ?

I doubt you could get it hot enough to explode just driving but I'd think it would expand more than compressed air as it heated up. I really don't know how butane reacts to moderate heat but I do know most gas expands with heat.

I did a quick search and people do use it but I didn't take enough time to find out why. One thing I found out is that some tires with fixaflat have been known to blow up at tire shops so if you ever use that stuff make sure the tire guy knows about it. I guess tire techs jobs aren't that safe after all.
