max sidewall height

any one know what the max sidewall height should be on an 04 impreza wagon ts w 17s? I'm thinking about getting 225/50/17 all seasons on a 17x7.5 wheel. sounds ok, right?

225/45/17 is the most populr with these cars, as stated above. But it all really depends on what you're going to do with the car.

Yeah they will fit, thats goingto increase your diameter a full inch though (25" OD - 26" OD) if your lowered at all you might rub. any reason you would want to do this?

why do this?

I live in the mountains on some sometimes nasty roads and drive fairly aggressively, I am worried about getting a flat with sidewalls that are too short, and I tend to not watch my air pressure very closely. My car isn't lowered so hopefully there wouldn't be any rubbing, I guess the question is if the car can really handle a 26" diameter w/out rubbing?

235/40/17s are 25.5" OD, so thats an extr half inch of side wall, they will fit on 7.5" wide rims and are actually about 10-15% cheaper than 225/50/17s from tire to tire, at least the ones I see on tire rack

The difference between 45-50 is how much more the 50 will cost since 45 is a more popular size.

LOL i can guess which "nasty road" that is by your location.
