lug nut torque? 42lbs??

I'm putting my factory summer wheels back on and I can't remember what to torque them to. 42lbs sounds low to me but am I right? Thanks in advance.

If you go 42 lbs your wheels may end up passing you on the Highway. Like the others said 75 lbs (thats what the owners manual says).

My manual said 58-72 ft lbs and 65.7 is right around the middle.

I torque mine to 85. I do have wider wheels and aluminum lug nuts.

Should you increase torque with wider wheels and alunimun lugs and if so why? My wheels are 7.5 wide and I have alunimum spline drive lugs.

Thanks.

Uh oh, i think i over torqued mine... I don't have a torque wrench, so i just put all my weight on the lug wrench to make sure they were tight. I didn't stand on it or anything, i just leaned on the wrench. Oh well, i'm only a scronny 145 lbs dude, so i guess it should be ok.

Over torquing will stretch the lugs and make them weak over time and much more prone to stripping and breaking.

I'll be swapping my stockers out again soon and putting my 18's back on with wheel locks i bought a couple months ago. I'll be sure to use the correct torque then.
