Kumho ASX

I have an '04 WRX sedan and was planning to upgrade my stock rims to 17x8 Rota Torques. I want to run on all-season tires, but my first two choices are not available in the size I need (235/40/17). I wanted to get either the Pirelli PZero Nero M+S or the Falken Ziex ZE-512, but these two tires aren't available in 235/40/17.

Anyway, the other choice I'm left w/ are the Kumho ASX. Does anybody have experience w/ these tires? I've never had Kumhos before so any feedback would be really appreciated. I don't race or track my car, but do spirited drives on twisty mountain roads. I also want a tire that I can use in snow occasionally during ski season, so I'm pretty set on getting all-seasons.

Check out the Sumitomo HTR+, they are available in your size, and they're all-season. Plus, they seem to be pretty popular, and a good performance tire.

Why do you want to run all seasons? If its for the snow, you want Narrower tires, not wider. If its just for rain, most of the summer tires we carry are great in the rain!

If you are going to get torques, get a summer tire. Keep the stockers for winter driving in the snow.

I'd reccomend ES100s, Kumho MXs or Falken ST-115s for your tires (if rain is the issue)

If rain is not the issue, then you can also safely opt for Falken Azenis Sports.

The ziex-512 is a great tire, but when you are about to get 8 inch wide wheels, use the grip... use grippy tires!

Well, for the most part I won't be driving in snow, so I wanted wider rims & tires. But occasionally I'd be driving in snow during ski season and a couple of times a year I visit my brother who lives in the boondocks where I have to drive in dirt roads. So I figured the best tires for me are all-seasons. I know I can keep the stockers for winter driving in snow, but I'd like to avoid having to swap the wheels if I can get good all-seasons for the Torques.

Anyway, going back to my original question, how are the Kumho ASX compared to the other all-seasons (Pirelli and Falken)? As I said, I've never had Kumho tires before so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm not a real big fan of the ASX ... we have just completed our testing on that tire and you should see test results shortly on our web-site

Thanks Luke for the heads up. Will the 245/40/17 fit on the 17x8 rims? I think I'll have better options if I can go w/ that size.
