Size of stock 04 STI BBS Rims?

Hi Everyone,

Just a simple question...are the 04 STi BBS stock rims 17x7.5?

I'm approaching 13,000 miles and the wear is beginning to show...I'm going to rotate my tires (front to rear) and probably get another 5000 miles off of these tires...the fronts seem to wear out quicker than the rears.

I am thinking about putting 235x40x17 instead of the stock 225x45x17...I want it a little wider and a slight bulge to protect the rims from curbs...I realize the diameter will be slightly smaller...anyone with an 04 sti with stock BBS rims put on 245x40x17? The diameter is more correct but I would hate to see too much of a bulge...and create an unsafe situation regarding the bead.

Thanks in advance,

I was under the impression they are 17 x 8's
A 245/40/17 is possible, especially with those new fender flares.

Can anyone else confirm the 8" wide BBS' on the 04' STi

the 235/40-17 has been used with good success on the 05 models but, the 225 is best for the '04's

Im wondering the same thing since 235/45 wouldnt be to far off for the spedo (+9mm) and I wouldnt think loseing 4.5mm gap in the fender well would be bad.
