Help with Volks CE28N

Hey fellas,
I need some help here. I have searched, but haven't quite found the answer I was looking for. Basically I am about to buy some CE28N rims. They are brand new in the box in Gold with a polished lip. The problem is that they are 18 by 7.5 with a +47 offset. I am not to sure how the offset works and all, but we tried fitting them on my 04 STi and it seems that they will slightly rub on the Brembo's . What I have learned so far is that offset is dependant on the wheel. I have seen others saying that 42 offset is for the STi and that's where I get confused. I would have thought that the higher the offset, the higher likley hood of them clearing the brembos? In my case I can see that I am off and need to run about a quarter inch spacer to make them fit.
My question is will this quarter inch spacer cause me any problems? What are the negatives? Will I need to run a quarter inch spacer in the back for consistency, since we are all wheel drive? Anything else I should look at? Finally, I don't have rolled fenders, but I would like to run the best possible tire size without rubbing. I have Zeal coilovers, so I guess I could play with the height. Are 45's to big for that rim and my fenders?
Hope you guys can give me a hand. This is one of those really good deals price wise and if I can make it work with your help, It would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ralph

Quarter inch spacer is too thick. You will not have enough threads on the lugnuts to properly and securely tighten the wheel.

Also, why would you wanna get 7.5" wheel on STi. You want to use 8.5.

45's what? 45 series tires? depends on the width.

I would not buy these. I would get some 18x8 or 18x8.5 +45 or +48. Before buying them, i would make sure that they clear the Brembos.

Sorry screwed up, I meant 1/8 inch.

The only reason I was going for 7.5", it's a really good deal. But I am glad I asked before buying them. I am not very knowledgeable with appropriate wheel sizes and all. The wheel just looked nice and the price is a steal.
Yes I did mean 45 series, with this 7.5", but not sure what width I would need to run?
Anyhow, if these wheels will fit a WRX or other subie, maybe I'll try to sell them for him on here. Thanks the help.

1/8 is not bad, but 7.5 is kinda skinny for STi. I would still not get them if I were you. BTW, they are LE28N, not CE28N.

Offset is just a measurement from the center of a wheel to where its hub mounting surface is. A higher positive offset means that the wheel will be closer towards the car (this mean less room for brake clearance). In the picture below, look at the far right diagram. If you increase the space between the center of the wheel and where the wheel's hub mounting surface is, you'll decrease the amount of "space" in the spokes.
