Fk-451 vs. Es100 help.
okay the race is on between the falken fk-451 and the yoko es100. I am ordering tomorrow, so please help me make up my mind.
Here's what I found so far (things that matter most for me):
fk451: 23.8 lbs.
280 treadwear
rim protector
$324 shipped (best price found)
es100: 22.09 lbs.
280 treadwear
rim protector
$362.44 shipped (best price found)
both seem to handle the same but I can't find a direct comparison between the two. If I could find out:
(a) which lasts longer?
(b) which has a better dry grip?
i should be able to make my decision.

Where are you getting your prices from? Are they in Canadian dollars? They seem awfully high.. Especially since TireRack has really wicked prices ($100 US) for the ES100's in a 17" size..
If its Canadian, I live in Nova Scotia and got quoted $194 for the ES100's to replace my stock 16's on a 2000 Impreza RS, so I think you may be able to do better for prices..
K.. ignore all that if its for all 4 tires..

Not to screw you up or anything...
I ran ES100s last year. They worked very well for all-round usage. I have about 3000 miles on a set of Falken ST-115s. The Falkens are everything the ES100s are and are quieter than the ES100.
I looked at the FKs hard thinking the ST-115s wouldn't be a good "performance" tire. But then saw some unfavorable reviews of FKs. I couldn't find any negative reviews of the ST-115s so I took the chance, and am very happy I did.
There's nothing wrong with the ES100s, and I would recommend them to anyone. But I am equally happy with the ST-115s and am hoping to get longer life out of them with the higher rating.
Good luck.

DAMN!!! Scoobydrew006, those are excellent prices on the tires ... you wouldn't mind sharing where you have got such excellent prices from, would you?
I paid like $100 more for the Yokohama ES100 from www.tires.com

Based on the tire weights, I'm guessing that the Falkens will have stiffer sidewalls, which makes them the choice for me of those 2. They probably have a very similar dry grip, and both have good reputations in the rain. But the big thing I keep hearing about the newer Falken design is the quietness and steering response.
Looks like the price on the ES100s is from TireRack, if these are stock size tires you're looking at.

FK451's are the way to go. They're everything the ES100's are, but better.
Be careful if you do consider the Azenis ST115's though -- they're very dangerous on wet pavement!

I have the Yokohama es100's and I love them. They are very sticky tires and perform great in rain or shine. I do not know much about the Falken's but that the Azensis suck in the rain.
Hope this helps a little.
