225 Falken 451's on Wagon?
I'm looking at the Falken 451's for my next tire. I currently have Yok ES100's 215/45-17.
Looking at the specs for the Falkens compared to the Yoks.. the 225 Falkens may be very close to the Yok 215's.
Yok ES100 - 215 - Overall width - 8.5" Tread Width 8.3"
Falken 451 - 225 - Overall Width - 8.8" Tread Width 8.1"
I've not had any rubbing with the Yoks, I'm thinking the Falkens in a 225 might be OK?
Wheels are Rota Subzero 17 x 7.5 48mm offset. Car is on Eibach Wagon springs.
Anyone have experience here... it's not like I can just take them back if they rub and I'd like to avoid rolling fenders. Are the 451's one of the 'narrow' 225's that work on the wagon?

Why can't you take them back if they rub? I/we do that all the time - it's called test fitting. Unless you are getting the tires via mail order, then, yeah, that could be a problem.
I can't really answer your Q, but I can suggest going to a store & asking them if they can accomodate you. I work @ Sears, but I'm sure ATC & others will do the same thing for your $$$.

im not sure if you'd rub but i know that falkens run wider than most other tire manuf. the 205 azenis is almost as wide as a 225 toyo. maybe if you just took off the plastic fender liner it would be ok.

The Azenis do run wide, I know that. But if you look at the specs for the 451, it's not as wide as the same size Azeni.. it's not even as wide as the same size Yok ES100... Of course that's on paper. It also seems to have a more rounded tread profile, which should help avoid rubbing also. I like the look of a nice straight profile, but after seeing how I've worn my Yoks into a round one, it seems thats what the car wants. haha. I think I'm going to take my chances on the 225's. If they rub, I'll just have the fenders rolled a bit as it sounds like the difference between rubbing and not rubbing can be 48mm vs 50mm offset. So I'm taking a 2mm chance
I've been having fun sliding around in the rain on my Yoks the last few days, though highway speeds get a little sketchy. I'll order the tires this week I think. And of course will update as to if the rub or not.

And the anwer is.. YES, THEY RUB!
I checked clearance before I ordered them and thought I had plenty.. but then I also got an alignment and the left rear WAS at -1.7 camber... wouldn't you know that was the wheel I used to check clearance. Had them move it to -1 and that used up some of my clearance and they do rub in the corners, even while taking it fairly easy on wet roads.
I'll call my bud at the body shop tomorrow and see when I can get in for a fender roll.
