In short, yes. Higher number on the treadwear rating, the longer it should last.
Lunchbox04V, not to knock your post, but what tires were you running stock on your G20? Almost every car have crappy stock tires to begin with, except for of course $50k+ cars

im new to the Subaru world so maybe im missing something, but why is everyone so into falken tires. I know they talked my dad into a set of ziex over the yokos that he was going to get on his A4 and they really blow. Maybe there are some other variations of the ziex that are better but from my research not too many people are happy with them. I have a newly bought rex and am looking for some good 17" tires.

I'd back the Ziex 512 any day. I used to drive a 200hp Neon and at one point, drove it 3 hours down the PA TPK at 60+ mph through a blizzard. I was changing lanes (a little hairy at times) at speed and passing salt trucks, all while in 2"-3" of snow. They also had terrific grip wet or dry. Now THAT's a tire.

Perhaps your dad's tires were the Xiex 502 (not 512) which were not liked my most who owned them, at least from the reviews I've read.

I just got ST115's mounted on my 17x8 torques last week.

After putting on 1500 miles on them(yes, I drove 1500 miles in a week) I realized that I am very happy with them.

They are very predictible at the point of traction lose, and they are WAY better then my 712's. I don't know about the treadwear yet b/c I just got them, but I would definatly highly recomened these tires if you need a good all around tire.
