Dexter: buying tires soon, 215 or 225?

I just ordered some new wheels (18x7.5) the recomended tire is 215/40. I could not find a diameter chart for the different tires on your site. What would be sacrificed with buying 225/40? (proper fitiment, speedo, odo, etc.)

Thanks
luke

If the wheel offset is between 48 and 52mm, go 225. I recommend the 225s consistently. In my opinion, it looks better, works better, and preserves the original outer diameter better.

Question Dexter

Would your 225 recommendation hold true for a wagon as well?

I'm not 100% positive but I believe 225 might cause some rubbing in wagons. How come the wagon don't have fender flares?!

225s work fine on wagons. I have them on a 7.5 with offset 50. With offsets betweem 48 amd 50 on a 7.5" wheel, you may have to remove the black rubber rear fender lip liner. Lower than 48 and expect to roll the rear fender.

The wagons don't have fender flares because they're designed for much higher speeds than the sedans. The fender flares would rip right off with the acceleration and top speeds that our wagons are capable of.

Thanks Dexter!

Thanks for the heads up on the 225/wagon issue.

Yeah, no fender flares. I'll just have to settle for being able to throw my rodeo kayak into the back of the hatch.

If they ever make an STI or EVO wagon, I'm all over it.
