Anyone have these tires? They seem to be pretty good I was thinking of getting a set in 225/50-R16. My dilema is that a really don't have enough cash for excellent rims and excellent tires so I was thinking it my just be better to spend the money on really good set of tires and keep my stock wheels for a while. I was also considering Good year Eagle F1 GS-D3 but I've heard some bad things about them. Tell me what you think.

I have had Sumitomo HTRzII's.... MX's....RT-215's....and the Hankook Z212's on my WRX......and have driven on MOST other UHP/MAX performance tires(in either WRX/STi's or modded EVO's), including the FK 451's(my other fav) and GS-D3's, and T1-S's(squishy), and RE070's(hard to beat on the street, dry....but very heavy), Falken 115's(another awesome, unknown tire)....and many others.
.....and the winner IS......hands down, no doubt.....the Hankooks, for all around usage and low price, ya cant beat 'em with a brick.
You could pay 2x their price and get a LOT less tire.

I haven't tried the Hanooks, but I have a set of Goodyear F1 GS-D3s (17/225/48) that have about 15k miles on them. They look as good as they day I put them on, "hook up" like no other tire I've had and stay cool and in control on almost any surface. I've even taken them off-roading (washboard gravel and sand, Arizona fire roads and the Apache highway) and they worked like a charm, just enough grip to allow some drifting. I think I'll get at least 25k miles out of them total, and about 70% of that is highway speeds; they would probably go to 35k, but I don't like to run tires out to the ragged edge.
Recently AutoWeek and Consumer Reports rated them the best Z-rated Summer Performance tire, favoring them over the Falken Azenis, Pilot Sport Pros and even the SO-3s. They are also *really quiet* even at highway speeds; that was what convinced me to get them vs. the S0-3s.
As for wheels, you have a problem. A lot of the Z-rated tires aren't being made in 16" sizes any more (try finding 15"s for your Honda Civic!) due to the focus on upsized aftermarket wheels. Personally I think the actual stock wheels for the WRX and STI are excellent wheels; strong, light and easy to keep clean. There is NO POINT in changing your wheels unless you plan to get LIGHTER and STRONGER than stock; otherwise it is just bling and you might as well be dragging cinder blocks behind the car. As the stock wheels are 16.5lbs and extremely strong, you can't beat them for under $300 a wheel.

What do you guys think of the G-force sport line? I've been in a porsche equipped with G-force
T/A KD and it was a very, very scary ride. I kept thinking the tires weere gonna give, but they held on. Of course, this is for dry performance.

I was looking for something that I could keep on year round that handled wet weather ok. Which is not the G-Forces strong point.
I've heard their absoloutley excellent in the dry though.
