Who has Potenza RE050A?

I'm thinking of getting these, they are $79 for 225/50WR16's so thats a plus for me

Anyways, who has these and how are they compared to other similarly priced tires? TIA

I have them. Their excellent tires. $79 is an insanely good price for them.

Damn when I got them about 6 months ago I payed the full $140. Its probably because the new RE050A pole positions are out now. Same construction but with a different stickier compound.

Isn't the sale only good through today? Or am I thinking of the F1's that were for sale??

Ok thanks for the clarification.

225's do fit on 05 WRX/RS rims. That's the very widest you'd wanna go with the 6.5 inch wide rim though. That's exactly what I'm considering doing, except with an 03 rim (same dimensions). You could pull of a 225/45WR16 if you wanted a little faster acceleration and less sidewall rolling over, but it may look like too small of a tire on a WRX, I'm not sure.

I have 225/50 on my stock 05 rims with the RE050A and have had no problem with side wall rolling. These tires have really stiff sidewalls so it make up for the fact that the tires a bit wide for the wheel.

How do these ride? Comfort, road noise?

I just got through the break-in period so I haven't really tested their grip yet. However, road noise is pretty low (much lwoer than my old avon tech 550 all-season tires). As for comfort, I can't really compare to other similar tires since these are the first summer tires I've ever used. My old car always had pirelli a/s tires and I've only used re92s and the avons on the suby. I'll do a bit of spirited driving testing later this week and let you know how they do.

oh yeah, and I went with the 205's cause I was stupid and ordered the wrong ones

So, I ended up getting these (couldnt pass up the deal on tirerack!) and I really like them so far. They grip better than the last performance tires I had (es100's) and the road noise/comfort is much better than the es100's.

I was hoping for less road noise (I was used to comfy dunlop all seasons) but overall I am very happy. I wish I could give a more in depth review...but I dont have a whole lot of experience with tires.

haha, I saw this thread in the new threads section and was like "hey! I have those!" only to realize it was my thread anyways, I'm still enjoying the tires since they grip pretty damn well...no info about tread wear yet though

Don't know if this helps, but I just got the RE050A Pole Positions and just completed the 500 mile break-in period after upgrading from the stock RE92s.

Right now, it feels 'twichier' on the highway than before and I have to make constant minute corrections to keep it straight. Anyone else have this problem?
