The wide tire might give you better lateral adhesion to a wet road but would be more likely to hydroplane and "float" on snowy roads. The difference is too close to call, however, and almost immeasurable. If you need a snow tire, get a snow tire. If you're in an area that rarely gets snow (Georgia, NC, etc...) then go with either size in the all-season tire.
