255/40/17 fitment on an 04 wrx

I have a set of 17x8 rims and I was looking through tires sizes and options for them and I am curious to find out what every one else might be running. They will be used for auto-x only not for daily driving. Is there any fitment issues? Rubbing against fender wells? Do I need to roll my fenders?

Also, if anyone has pictures of a 255/40's (17x8) on their wrx/sti I would like to see what it would like look. If possible, also include your suspension mods.

Thank you in advance!

All 255/40-17s I have looked at require at least 8.5 rims,so the tires may not deliver their maximum performance on your 8s. Other than that no problem. I used that size on 17x8.5 +48,and now on 17x9 +44. The only mod is that the rear horizontal fender lip is folded up. This is on a 2004 STi with stock springs/struts.
