stock ride hieght shouldnt rub. lowered, it depends how you drop it... i ran 245's on 17x8 rotas and rubbed for a while only the left rear till i figured out the right front was an inch higher than the left front after that no more rubbing . i am running cusco zero 2r coilovers... i was pretty low, in hard cornering with it set on 3 and 4 it would tuck the tread completely in the wheel well. it also depends on how you drive you car.

I would be autocrossing it this summer so I wanted the extra rubber, I got evo to kill ya know.
Thier is no chance of the tire coming off the rim with that large of rubber is thier?
Would the 235/40/17 just be a better, quicker (on the autocross track) and safer?
Thanks for the help, especialy those of you with the coil-overs.
Hey bigworm,Whats the ride like with those cusco coil-overs compared to stock?

I run 255/40/17 A032R's in 17x8 Rota Torques for my track wheels. They fit without any problem and I have never had any issues.

I am lowered (not slammed) and rolled the fenders just in case.

Damn those is wide. What do ya think about the A032R, how do they do in the rain and would you drive on them daly? I was thinking of getting advan neova AD07.
What tire do you drive on daily or auto-x with?
Do those hugh meats ever fell like they are rolling over on thier side( those tire are 1.18 inches bigger than the original damn!) wall because of how wide they are?
Thanks for the info.

I would never drive any R compound tire in the rain, especially the A032R's. These are my dry track only tire. I drive on them to get to the track, but they have a tendancy to follow all of the cracks in the road and pick up every single rock, so I would not want to use them as a daily driver.
There is one high load corner on the track I usually run at that feels like the tires *might* be rolling over slightly, but I think it's more of a suspension load issue.
For the street, I run Falken Azenis RT-615's which have proven to be a great dry tire, similar to the stock RE070's, but with excellent wet performance as well. I know they are popular for AutoX as well.

hey egan, what kind of suspension do you have? i want to run 245/35 on 18x8.5 ssr (+48). im not sure if it will fit (have prodrive springs on my '04 STi). reason im asking is that coilovers are much skinner than the big spring perch. even if roll my fenders, i might have rubbing issues against the strut assembly. thanks in advance.

I am running the rt-615s after having a set of rt-215. Both were 245/45/17's. Never rubbed ever or had a problem. My 04 sti is sitting on the pink sti springs. Works like a champ and grips about eighty times better on track days.

The diameter of them is gonna be kinda high but they shouldnt rub. 245/40/17 would be a little better because theyre closer to the stock tire diameter.
