245/35/17 on 17x7.5?
I plan on purchasing 17x9 wheels within the near future but need new tires now for my 17x7.5 wheels. will I be ok running 245/35/17 on them? I currently have 225/45/17 but could run 235/40/17.

I'm running 235/45R17 Star Specs on 17x7.5 wheels. They fit fine. The downside is there dia. is 25.4 and my OE tires are 24.9. I believe you could run 245/45R17, but they have an even larger dia. 235/40R17's could be squeezed on, but there minimum rim width is 8".
Basically it depends on what you want. A wider tire will give you more peak grip even on a narrow wheel, but at the cost of precision and crisp steering.
A tire better suited to the wheel will be more precise and offer better steering response, but of course peak grip will not be as high.

I see.
Well 245's would be best for 9" wide wheels. But I'd want 245/40R17...245/45's are too big IMO. Almost an inch larger in dia. than stock tires. In Direzza's for example 24.9" (205/55R16) to 25.7" (245/45R17). 245/40R17's are 24.7".
I would think you could use 245/40's on a 7.5" wheel. Bee a little bulgy, but it's only temporary until you go to 9" right.
