i would like to know too... i asked a tech/service writer the same question and they recommended 225...but i want bigger also...

I believe it depends on the tire. If you look at the specs, it tells you what size range for the tires you can use. Look on tirerack, under specs, and I think its like the 6th column says "Rim Width Range" under there, look at what tire you want in what size and see if it'l work. GL

You can use that size, but they are better suited to 8in wide wheels.

i know someone who has 245/40/17's azenis sports on their stock 17x7.5 STi rims. the car is lowered on Tien Flex coilovers as well. so yes ideally an 8 inch rim but not required.

Volvo puts 235's stock on the new S60's with the 17x7.5's. I think the tires on my dads car are Pirelli P6's.
