so I'm getting new tires (bridgestone re 01) today that I will putting on my stock 06 sti wheels. Should I just say with 225 or go little bigger with 235?

 

I'd say, get the 235's. You are already spending a bunch of these tires, spend a little more and get one size bigger.

 

06 STI wheels are 17x8"... if you are going wider, go w/ 245/40-17!

Have you considered Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec? It's supposed to be better than RE-01R & at least 30% cheaper. Btw, Z1 Star Spec runs wider that other tire.

 

yea +1 for dunlops, about 70 - 80 dollars less per tire and they were on par with the re-o1r's. For the money, its definitely worth it

You can fit 245's on your sti no problem, they aren't even that much more expensive as well.

 

I was considering the re01r as a replacement for my stock re070's.
instead.. Z1 star specs were mounted today and I was very pleased with its performance.

i went with 235-45-17 on stock 8". i wanted a bit wider tire but wanted to retain the same ground clearance as the stock profile.

 

yeah i say go 245 17x 8 can handle without debeading issues.

but if you were set on 225 or 235 def go 235
