215 or 225 tire on 17" ROTA???

The reason I ask is a 215 is optional original equipment, even though most people I know run a 225 tire with 17x7.5 wheel. So why is it most people run 225's and will running these affect odometer and speed measurments? Thanks.

People run wider tires (225) so they will have a larger contact patch of rubber to the ground, that= better traction depending on tires

the only time that a tire will alter speedometer calibration is when the sidewalls are totally different from the stock height.

Well I wouldn't think that It would be drastic, since the difference between 215 and 225 is only 10 millimeters, thats 5mm on each side.

This is so true my Kumho MX's on 205/55R 16 have my speedo off about 4mph
