I want to get some extra wheels for my new Forester, so I can put snow tires on them later in the year. Dealer charges $124 each for extra steel wheels. There are some good deals on Impreza and Legacy/Outback wheels on eBay, but I have been having trouble getting information on which are Forester compatible. What I know is that my Forester steel wheels are 16x16.5', 5-100 bolt pattern and 48mm offset. I believe that Impreza wheels are 55mm offset and so might not be suitable - would they rub inside of fender, without 7mm spacer? I have not been able to find out Legacy/Outback offset.
So what I want to know is: what are the wheel widths and offsets for 16" Impreza and Legacy wheels, 1999-2004, so I know which wheels I can safely bid on. I have my eye on some alloys form a 1999 Legacy Outback, but will thye work ...?
