18x8 wheels, tire width? help!

I have an 03 wrx sedan on STi RA struts and Ver8 pinks. I'm thinking of going with a set of 18x8 Enkei rpm2's (Bortex). My tire of choice will probably be SO3's. I would like to go with a 235/40/18 size. Would that be too wide? Or should I just stick with 225/40/18 and be safe. Opinions are needed.

the easy answer to this question is "stick to 225's" but, in reality I have many people running 235/40-18's on STi's

What is the offset for 235/40/18 cause I 'm planning on getting wheels but not sure on 18" or 17"

If I get 18" do I need to lower it...????

Offset is a measurment from the mounting point to the center of the width of the wheel. Width of wheel determines the offset not the heigth. Here is a link that explains better https://www.i-club.com/forums/showth...threadid=55297 You will have to scroll almost to the bottom of the page to read about offset. Also when you step up to a 17 or 18 the outside diamiter of the tire should remain the same and you will not have to lower it if you get the right tire but it would look better. The link above will also tell you how to figure the OD of the tire so you know you are getting the right tire for your car.
