18in SSR Competition
The Comps indeed are strong - but going from a 16" to an 18" will make any wheel more vulnerable to potholes because of 1" less sidewall between the tire and the road. If you insist on going to 18s, whatever wheel you choose, keep your air pressure up to get best protection from pothole damage.
I've been using the Comps for about a year now in 17" on roads I'd consider 'rough' with no problems. I run my air pressure near 40 lbs., though, for a little extra protection.

You just got to be more carful. My friends has 18 inch wheels. One of the did dent one of them but never saw how bad it was. The other friend's have been driveing on 18 for a few years and have no problems. They have racing hart 3 piece, 5 zigen, and gewalts. I had 17inch 3 piece rims with 40 series and never had a problem. Just check your tire pressure once a month.
