Offset is the distance from the center line of the wheels width to the mounting surface. The factory wheels are 6.5"s wide and need a specific offset (around +53-+55) but when you go wider the offset will need to change so your tires dont rub the struts. I think +43-+47 would work good on a wheel that is 8"s and around +43-+40ish on a wheel that is 8.5"s.(not sure those #'s are correct). Hopefully there is someone here that will tell you the exact #'s for those widths. No, the wheel bearings want the offset to stay the same. The reason you have to go to a smaller offset with a wider wheel is so the tire isn't conflicting with the strut housing.
